‘Can we set up our own relay company using the ERS software?’
In the past, we have been asked that same question many times from all over the World. As a result, our CEO, Marcus Turley has now decided to relax the rules to allow people to set up their own relay companies in other countries by licensing them to use his software.
If you are dreaming of setting up your own Relay Company then please take a moment to read this useful advice from Marcus before you decide on such a high risk business venture. We are open to any questions and will provide accurate answers because we understand that to setup a Relay Company is a very high risk business, especially without financial backup.
On its own, a Relay Service will not be profitable initially because the revenue will be lower than the outgoing costs such as coverage demands i.e. a ratio of 30 Operators to 10 customers to cope with demand.
In the United States, Sweden, New Zealand and Australia, call costs are reimbursed by the Federal Communication Commission which solves this problem. However, in the UK and other European countries, no such scheme is available so it is a very high risk business. In which case, perhaps you’re wondering why Marcus Turley decided to go ahead with the service. Marcus has said that he knew exactly how to set up the relay service from the beginning and has always had other businesses to run alongside to ensure that everything could be reinvested in the right way, becoming one successful Company as a whole.
A few points that Marcus suggests that you consider:-
1: You need to hire as many as 100 Operators to cope with the consumer demand.
2: You will need to invest a significant amount to cover the operation cost over the next 24 months.
3: You need to ensure that all Operators are fully trained to the highest standard e.g. typing speed of at least 70 words per minute.
4: Ensure that you have enough Operators available to answer calls within 1 minute to ensure a reduced queue time to achieve the business aim.
5: You need to make sure that the public in your country are made aware of how a relay service works. We can help you with that.
6: It is ideal to start the business opening hours between 9am to 6pm until the customer base grows to a sufficient level. Initially, we started our own business between 7am to 9pm and then moved on to offer a 24/7 service.
